Araluen House is a luxurious, light-filled beach house only 5 minutes from Gerringong town! Relax with friends and family amidst stunning landscaped gardens and fish ponds, or head 100m down a short cut to the surf and sunshine at Werri Beach.

Where will I be?
Araluen House is an easy 100m walk to the famous surf spot at Werri Beach and the start of the Gerringong to Kiama Coastal Walk. Close by Araluen is Werri lagoon - a safe swimming area for younger children. A short, 5 minute drive away is Gerringong where you'll find good coffee and a selection of nice restaurants. Minnamurra Falls is also close by - another great family outing!

This home truly is a rare find for family and friends- close beach access and a pool right out back! Regardless of your group size Araluen House is the ultimate place to relax, pause and reflect in the tranquil surroundings that give you enough space to either unwind together or enjoy your holiday in peace.
How is the property laid out?
The uniquely different spaces are what makes Araluen House special! There are four large bedrooms in the main house and then a much larger separate and very private space with two bedrooms - the Cottage.
Downstairs in the main house - the master bedroom has a king bed, full length windows overlooking the pool and an ensuite. Bedrooms 2 and 3 have queen beds, and are opposite a large shared bathroom with a shower and bath. Adjacent to these are the laundry and the downstairs lounge with a full home cinema, surround sound and black out blinds!
Upstairs in the main house - bedroom 4 has a double and an ensuite with a shower. The kitchen area proves a fabulous place for everyone to congregate whilst cooking up a storm, and flows through to the indoor and outdoor dining and lounging spaces.
The Cottage, separate from the main house, has 2 bedrooms - one with a king bed and one with a queen bed, a library of books, TV and an ensuite bathroom with large stone bath and wet room shower.
Araluen House is able to accommodate a large family, a couple of smaller families or groups of friends. With plenty of indoor/outdoor areas, there is space for everyone to lounge around separately or together.
Wi-Fi and streaming services - will I have them?
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email. Please note that neither The Holidays Collection nor the owner can guarantee 100% that Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If Wi-Fi is important, please therefore always have a backup plan.
This property has several smart TV's. Please bring your own login details for streaming services.
What about outdoors?
Landscaped gardens lead to a spectacular backyard complete with a pool, deck chairs, Weber BBQ and a sitting area for drinks and entertaining. The kitchen/dining area flows through to the upper entertaining deck with both lounging and dining options. The back gate in the garden leads to a short cut - taking you straight to the beach!
Staying warm or keeping cool?
Araluen House is equipped with reverse cycle air conditioning. In the summer months the house can be opened up for a fresh sea breeze.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
High quality linen and bath towels are all provided. Please remember to bring your own beach towels.
Parking for cars, boats etc?
Araluen has room for up to 3 cars in the driveway.
Is my dog or cat welcome to stay?
Yes! Pets are welcome to stay at Araluen House subject to the following:
- Please do not allow wet or dirty dogs in or through the house
- Absolutely no dogs on the furniture
- Please bag and dispose of doggy waste appropriately
- Lastly, please consider that not all guests bring dogs on holiday and we want everyone to enjoy a clean and fresh home.
- Please clean up dog hairs or anything else inside the house before your departure - thank you!
Is there any special information I should know about?
This house has a stream and two fish ponds on site, so we do not recommend the property if you have small children who are unable to swim. Please be aware of this upon booking.
What are the minimum stay rules?
- Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property
- Easter: 4 nights
- Long Weekends: 3 nights
- All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.

The house sleeps 12 and we had a party of twelve and still very spacious and not living on top of each other. The house is well presented, extremely clean and beautiful linen, bathroom accessories and very comfortable beds. A definite favourite for our group get aways, would 100% recommend.

When one throws a rock at the internet you don't expect to be this lucky. Generosity was in evidence from the toiletries to the linen to the beach towels to the furnishings and the art is quite incredible - some pieces are pretty graphic, younger children be advised :). Beds fantastically comfortable. Great writers retreat.

Excellent property for family holiday

It is well set up to make the holiday so relaxing in every way. The grandkids had a great time in the pool. The reading collection is incredible The two families stayed in the main building while the grandparents (us!) were in the tranquil bungalow at the back. Short walk to the beach capped it off. Must give a big ‘thank you’ to the management group as well. So helpful.
A perfect weekend getaway

The house is beautifully finished with lovely toiletries, linen and comfortable beds. The kitchen was amazing. It made celebrating with the family easy - lots of everything for cooking and entertaining. We were able to take an easy walk along the beachfront, evading the rain.

Lovely extended family stay

The house is very well appointed and we particularly appreciated the outdoor areas, the extensively stocked kitchen (we did alot of cooking), high quality towels and linen, the wonderful selection of books and games and the very comfortable beds. The house is situated in a quiet residential street within a 5 min walk to to Werri Beach. Gerringong town centre is a short drive away.
Great house for groups but needs maintenance
Keith S - 1st March 2021Great house for groups of friends. Heaps of room and fully stocked kitchen. Only down side is that the property is need of general maintenance and more information about how things operate is required. Main bedroom ensuite door no longer tracks and is difficult to open/close. Suspect the door and floor boards at the door are exposed to water damage from the shower. External blinds to the upstairs deck died long ago and need replacement. Kitchen sink does not hold water as the plug seals

The house and garden are fantastic. The kitchen is one of the most well equipped kitchens I have ever come across on my holidays. And to top that off, we could walk to the beach every day.

Nicholle S - 27th December 2020The property has been great. It would have been nice to have been told about routine maintenance occurring, ie lawns and pool cleaning. These trades just let themselves in without asking. There are some lights out in the kitchen that need replacement. There also sounds like a rat or possibly a possum has made its home in the floor area (mezzanine) between level 1 and ground. It would have been great to have a vacuum cleaner. The small Dustbuster is not really useful.
Spacious and Comfortable
Beverley P - 29th November 2020Very well appointed house for a largish group. Beds very comfortable, and lots of great living spaces so we could easily spread out. The kitchen is very functional with many appliances and utensils. We enjoyed the pool. Really close to beach. Overall a very positive experience - only suggestions/ negatives ... there are no mirrors in some bedrooms, and no opening window or fire alarm in Balinese house. We were a group of 8 ladies and would all highly recommend Araluen.

We love Gerringong
Vanessa - 10th October 2019This is a lovely home in a great location close to the beach. Our family enjoy an annual get together in Gerringong during October each year and always enjoy visiting this beautiful seaside town. Araluen House is large, spacious and well equipped. The pool house is a great option for teenagers to retreat. We had a few hiccups with lost keys on arrival and no bath towels in the upstairs bedroom. The boys were disappointed when they settled in to watch the NRL grand final match and discovered that although the house has Foxtel, the free to air channels are not available. The massive big screen TV was a waste when we had to watch the grand final on a laptop. The louvre windows are lovely and breezy during the day but there are no screens on the windows so we discover over 300 mosquitos in the master bedroom on our first night and no insect spray to be found. We had to chase them off with a pump pack of aeroguard and a dust buster vacuum. Screens on the windows would be a definite improvement so close to the stagnant Werri Lagoon.
