Cottage 1 – Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages
53 Cyrus Street, Hyams Beach
The Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages are quaint colourful heritage cottages nestled along a creek with north facing verandahs. They are the perfect spot to take in the tranquility of Jervis Bay. The cottages contain a bedroom with ensuite, sitting room and a balcony overlooking the small tree-lined creek that crisscrosses the site. The staggered layout of the cottages ensures that each has a view towards Jervis Bay from a north facing deck. The beaches and café are only minutes from your front door! Perfect couples only getaway.
These heritage cottages were originally built in the 1920s as fisherman’s cabins. They operated continuously since the 1920’s until the late twentieth century as family holiday cabins. In 1998 the seven remaining cabins were transformed into quaint colourful one bedroom seaside cottages which quickly became a preferred romantic getaway in the heart of Jervis Bay.
Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages are in the Jervis Bay National Park on the walkway to Huskisson. Dolphin and whale watch cruises, restaurants and Booderee National Park are only a ten minute drive from the cottages and the Hyams Beach Cafe is a short walk up the road.
Please note:
Cottage One has a shower, vanity, and toilet configuration in its bathroom.
Where will I be?
The Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages are located at 53-55 Cyrus Street and are set amongst lovely gardens and trees. They are in the heart of Hyams Beach yet set back for privacy and seclusion. Cottage One is located nearest to the road, and Cottage Seven is located at the rear of the block. All are within easy walking distance of the beaches and cafe, and the whole complex has a lovely riverine setting, with views to the bay from every cottage.
Why stay at a Hyams Beach Seaside Cottage?
The cottages are constructed from timber and originally date from the 1920's. They have been extensively refurbished and fully modernised, yet retain a lovely feel of yesteryear. Due to their size and configuration, they are suitable for couples or single travellers only.
How is the cottage laid out?
Each cottage has a bathroom at is rear, a good sized bedroom with queen bed, and an interconnected living area, complete with small kitchenette, lounge, electric fireplace, and a table for two in a lovely bay window. A north facing deck adjoins the living area, from which you have views towards Jervis Bay, overlooking lovely riverine bush. You are also most likely to be visited by friendly rosellas and lorikeets!
WiFi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV - will I have it?
The Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages do have Wi-Fi and a username and password will be provided for that in your pre-arrival email. You may use the WiFi with no guarantee of reliability or bandwidth by us or the owner. If internet access is critical during your stay, please make sure that you have a Plan B!
What about outdoors?
Each cottage is set within lovely landscaped gardens and at the rear of the site, there is a communal barbecue and outdoor seating area. The gas barbecue is supplied with oil, salt, pepper, vinegar and paper towels. The cottages are set along a creek with natural bush, but all have views towards Jervis Bay even from Cottage Seven. Birds, including rosellas and parrots and resident kangaroos are frequent visitors!
Staying warm or keeping cool?!
Each cottage is equipped with an electric fireplace that will keep you warm and cosy. In summer, you can make use of the ceiling fan, or the front door, windows and French doors of the cottage can be opened up to catch any available ocean breeze. All windows are fitted with fly screens.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
The Hyams Beach Seaside Cottages are all supplied with linen, towels and a very comfortable bed! Please bring your own beach towels though.
What provisions are there for me to use?
Each cottage has a small fridge, microwave, kettle, toaster, cutlery, crockery and glasses. No oven or stove top is provided.
Parking for cars?
There is off-street parking for one car. Each cottage is entitled to the use of one car space.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
The cottages are not pet friendly. Please ask for a list of our many pet friendly options.

Beautiful & relaxing cottage
Annette - 30th August 2024Thank you so, so much. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay. It is the 3rd time we have stayed at these cottages over the years and, every time, we have a wonderful and relaxing break. The cottages are all so cute and fabulous! Cheers!
Wonderful walk back in time.
Sue D - 23rd March 2024The eye for detail and workmanship in restoring and decorating these quaint 1920s cottages is second to none. The location and cleanliness was perfect. A must experience for any couple.

Leanne K - 15th February 2024Thank you for a fabulous few days away at the beautiful Hyams Beach. Cottage 1 Cyrus Street was perfect. Very comfortable, clean and had all the amenities we needed. A lovely little place and a fabulous area. Thank you also to one of your staff who organised for our boat to be parked safely, much appreciated.

Cute Heritage Cottage
Bronwyn W - 11th November 2023We have enjoyed our stay at the cottage which was clean and well stocked with everything you might need and the bed was comfy. The heritage feel was lovely and the size perfect for a couple. Usually we do prefer somewhere with cooking facilities but for only 3 nights, we managed.

The cottage was the perfect escape to recharge
Christine L - 7th December 2022The cottage was equipped with everything we needed: clean, comfortable and only a few steps from the beach. A great place to recharge and do as much or as little as we want.
Wonderful place to stay in Hyams Beach!
Cheryl A - 23rd September 2022We spent four nights in the very cute and well appointed cottage. The aspect was beautiful from the deck and we could just walk across the road to the beach. While tiny, the cottage had everything we needed and the bed was very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily stay again. Highly recommended.

CHRISTINE B - 1st June 2022This cozy cottage was a nice place for me to take a short break on a 5 week road trip to Tassie and back. It has everything you need for a couple of nights including a nice comfy bed and a great little deck to sit and enjoy your morning coffee while looking at the water.

Outstanding Getaway location
Danny D - 11th January 2022We enjoyed our first stay in Hyams Beach back in April 2021. We loved the location and particularly the property. In June last year we decided we needed another Coastal Getaway. We went online to the Holidays Collection website and found Cottage 1 was free for four nights and booked it immediately. We are now looking at other Holidays Collection properties in the area to share this experience with our family (children and grandchildren). One word - AWESOME...
Location
Colleen S - 9th January 2022Fantastic views and excellent location for a short stay very tranquil settings with an amazing beach.

Beautiful getaway
Stephanie W - 14th November 2021We loved our stay at the Hyams Beach cottages. We came to celebrate what should have been our wedding day (postponed due to covid) and had the most wonderful weekend. Even with the rain, we had the coziest stay. The location of the properties are perfect and they are equipped with everything you need. The fireplace-like heater was a lovely touch, and we loved eating our dinner on the deck. There are lots of beautiful walks around, so recommend bringing your walking shoes.

Cassandra - 2nd April 2021Negative: Positive: Great location. Cute cottage.
Cosy, relaxing great location.
Cassandra C - 31st March 2021Loved the cottage. Very cosy inside. Love all the character pieces. Bed was a bit small but that’s because we are used to a king size. Was quiet except for sounds of the ocean at night which was amazing. Would very much recommend for a romantic trip away.
Lovely intimate cottage
Lynne C - 24th March 2021Great spot opposite Hyams. Well equipped. Very comfy bed. Lived the h historical touches. Just needed sunshine -but nature's in charge of that. Great getaway.
Cosy and comfortable
PeterL - 11th February 2020We had a wonderful time. The cottages are a home away from home. We will definitely come back. Thank you.
Great Location
Monica - 5th January 2020I was informed about the bushfire situation at various stages between booking and arriving. The cottage had all the facilities as I expected -as per website. We were unable to find any TV Channels, but Mikado and Dominoes game kept us busy on quiet nights. Everything was immaculately clean. The cottage was close to the beach with easy parking. Very cosy and comfortable.
Stunning Location
Peter - 26th December 2019will go again.great location. cottages with real character
Absolute Blast
RebeccaP - 20th November 2019We had an absolute blast! The cottage is gorgeous and cozy and everything was just perfect! Thank you so much
Cosy
Tan123 - 2nd September 2019First impressions were great a real cosy little cottage great view to the beach. Parrots come to visit on the verandah every morning and late in the afternoon. Owner's are very quick to fix any problems so that's a thumbs up.
Cosy cottage
Cecilia - 28th August 2019Nice and compact for weekend couple's retreat. Great location. Issues - need blind/curtain for glass door to balcony as people in street can see inside, would be nice to have wifi as phone reception was poor in the area. Other complaint is that the cottage was newly painted inside, so we suffered quite a bit from the paint smell.
Hyams Beach Cottage 1
Kevin - 14th August 2019Cottage was very clean and comfortable Nice 2 days Constructive comments to add to enjoyment would be Shower door needs adjusting as water flooded the bathroom floor and BBQ needs replacing and for safety a gas fuse added Laundry out back needs some serious maintenance
Lovely cottage
KJWe - 11th April 2019Lovely place to stay easy walk to the beach and close to Huskisson and Vincentia for supplies.

Jennifer - 1st May 2018Cute & clean cottage close to the whitest sand in the world
Great time
Sean - 1st March 2018Really enjoyed our time down at Hyams beach. Very short walk across the road to the beach. Lovely to be able to hear the ocean from our room. Cafe down the road is also great. We had a very rainy Sunday while we were down but still enjoyed ourselves on the porch, watching gangs of lorikeets fly around! I would highly recommend this place
Just go there!
Sarinmd - 28th January 2018Disregard reports of crowds. Most beautiful spot to stay!!!
Relax from the moment you enter the cottage
Jenny - 23rd January 2017The simplicity of the cottages, nestled amongst trees and only a stones-throw from Hyams Beach, makes this the perfect place to get away from it all. This was our second visit staying at the cottages and won't be the last.
quality and cleanliness
doreenandben - 20th August 2016a cosy cottage for two people for a winter break and close to beautiful beaches and the Booderoo National park-and with resident kangaroo (don't feed him!)
