Earlsbrae is an iconic and luxurious Bowral home. Built in the 1870s, the property has been stylishly renovated, yet still maintains the beautiful period architecture that connects its guests to a rich history. Set on 7 acres of beautiful established gardens, Earlsbrae can accommodate up to 19 guests across 9 bedrooms - 6 in the main house, 2 in the Garden Cottage and 1 in the Bluestone Cottage. There is plenty to keep you entertained and comfortable including an all weather tennis court, billiards room, grand piano, easy access to Mt Gibraltar's walking trails, smart TVs, a modern, fully equipped kitchen and 5 renovated bathrooms.
Due to the high quality of this beautiful home, party groups are not accepted, smoking inside is not permitted, and a cash bond of two thousand dollars applies to every booking.
Corporate Retreats at Earlsbrae
The purpose built Corporate Retreat facility catering for up to 10 people is located adjacent to the main house, connected by the stone driveway. The Corporate Retreat has state of the art audio visual and IT facilities, allowing to connect to people off site via collobaration software. The Corporate Retreat opens to a large deck with additional seating and BBQ, perfect for breaking from the meeting area to have morning tea, lunch or afternoon drinks while enjoying the view over Bowral. The facility has a kitchen and a bathroom, and the table has seating for 10.

Weddings and events at Earlsbrae
Unless you have written permission from us or the owner, weddings, events, large celebrations, parties or any other event are not allowed at Earlsbrae. If you do have a special occasion or celebration in mind that falls within reasonable use of the property by you as a guest, please contact us with full details so that we can consider your request. The kitchen is well equipped for caterers. If you hold an unapproved event at Earlsbrae, your full cash bond will be forfeited.
External CCTV at Earlsbrae
Due to the quality and nature of Earlsbrae, external CCTV cameras are located at both entry gates, and at the external doors of the house. There are no internal cameras. The security cameras are used as needed to monitor vehicle movements and to ensure that the property is used for agreed purposes by the agreed number of guests.
Where will I be?
Earlsbrae is located a 15 minute stroll or quick drive from Bowral's restaurants, cafes and shops. The surrounding towns of Mittagong, Berrima and Moss Vale, as well as local wineries and key wedding venues are also all within easy driving distance.

Earlsbrae offers guests a beautifully modernised, period home and two cottages located in one of Bowrals most desirable areas. The tennis court, billiards room and seven acres of garden to explore means that even large groups will not feel confined here. If you do wish to leave the luxurious confines of the property, you are within walking distance of Bowral, and easy driving distance to all that the Southern Highlands has to offer.
How is the property laid out?
Earlsbrae is accessed through an ornate cast iron gate which leads to a driveway that winds through the property's established gardens. Guests then have access to the large and stately main house that sleeps 12, the separate loft style Garden Cottage that sleeps 5 and separate Stone Cottage that sleeps 2.
The main house has three bedrooms downstairs, two bedrooms upstairs, and two additional bedrooms, one of which is a very good quality queen sofa bed in a study room. The master bedroom downstairs has its own large en-suite, two bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom, and each of the upstairs bedrooms has it own shower / toilet bathroom - a total of four bathrooms for five bedrooms.
The Garden Cottage is a separate dwelling and has one bedroom upstairs with a double bed and single bed, plus a good quality queen sofa bed downstairs. This cottage has its own kitchen, living area and a shared toilet / shower bathroom upstairs.
The Stone Cottage is a separate dwelling with lounge room and kitchen, and a separate bedroom with ensuite.
The main house has a number of generous, luxurious and beautiful common areas - a large open plan kitchen / dining room, a formal lounge, a second formal dining room, a large billiard room, an internal laundry, outdoor entertaining decks, a fire pit, and extra bathrooms for visitors. The kitchen is well equipped to prepare a feast for your guests, and has Ilve oven with both gas and induction cooking, as well as a teppanyaki plate, two large fridges and freezers, a separate drinks fridge, Bosche dishwashers and a ZIP tap with instant boiling water. There is also a Thermorossi Wood Burning Cooker.
Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV will I have it?
This property provides complimentary Wi-Fi and a password will be provided in your pre-arrival email, or will be available at the property.Please note however that neither the agency nor the owner can 100% guarantee that the Wi-Fi will work, and no compensation will be payable if problematic. If internet access is important to you, please have a backup plan.Smart TV's are provided in the main house with access to Netflix and other streaming services.
What about outdoors?
Earlsbrae has extensive gardens and grounds, with multiple places to sit outdoors and entertain. There is a full sized all weather tennis court and the walking trails of Mount Gibraltar are within close proximity perfect for getting some exercise!
Natural pool
Earlsbrae also has a beautiful natural pool where native habitat landscaping has enhanced the small Colonial Era dam to create a more natural pool. A pump system that circulates the water over small filter ponds has been installed. This system keeps the water crystal clear.
The dam is an integral part of Earlsbrae’s system to protect the property from bushfire and drought. The area is fenced off with pool fencing and three locked gates. Unfortunately, because the dam is stocked with trout and because it is not approved as a swimming pool, it is not possible to swim in the dam. Guests are welcome to relax around it, but you must do so entirely at your own risk. The area must also be supervised at all times, especially if you have children in your party.

Keeping warm or keeping cool?
In the main house, Earlsbrae has central gas heating throughout that rises from floor vents and 2 working fireplaces that can be used for the cooler months. The two upstairs bedrooms have split system air conditioners for either heating or cooling. The open plan kitchen / dining room also has its own split system air conditioner, and the two adjacent bedrooms have electric heaters. Finally, some of the bathrooms have under floor heating.
The Garden Cottage has its own fireplace and firewood supply, as well as a split system air-conditioner downstairs and upstairs.
The Stone Cottage has split system air conditioner and wood burning heater.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
High quality sheets and towels are provided at Earlsbrae.
Parking for cars, boats etc?
Off street parking is available for multiple cars.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
Sorry, Earlsbrae is not a pet friendly property.
What are the minimum stay rules?
- mid December to the Australia Day weekend: 3 nights (unless the owner agrees to 2 nights)
- Easter: 4 nights
- Long Weekends: 3 nights
- All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.
