The Shack is a classic, original 1950s beach cottage that has been stylishly renovated and well equipped for a peaceful and relaxing holiday. The house is perfect for a family, or a group of friends if you are happy with bunks. As the cottage also has a small footprint, it is perfect for a couple as well.
Strictly no parties at this property – please. You will be evicted if this rule is broken.

For the rest of Summer Season, a 3 night minimum applies.
Where will I be?
The Shack is located at Palm Beach on the waterfront reserve of St Georges Basin. You have private access to the reserve and also the local playground and BBQ area.
Why choose The Shack?
This is an original 1950s retro cottage beautifully renovated and decorated. It has a waterfront location and a lovely setting, near Palm Beach.
How is the property laid out?
The Shack comprises three bedrooms and an open plan living and dining area with reverse cycle air-conditioning. As you enter the house you have combined laundry and bathroom on your left (with washer and dryer), before you make your way into the open plan living and dining area. The kitchen has all the mod cons needed while away on holidays, including a dishwasher. Down the hallway are the three bedrooms. Main with a queen and the other two have split bunks - ideal for young children. Facing the waterfront you have a large open entertaining deck and boat shed with direct access to the waterfront reserve. The yard is fully fenced.
Wi-Fi, Internet, Netflix or Pay TV - will I have it?
This particular property does not offer Wi-Fi. If you bring an internet dongle with you, the best network is generally Telstra. Otherwise, it's best to use your smartphone only during your stay or find a local cafe that offers free Wi-Fi. The Holidays Collection is committed to getting all owners to provide Wi-Fi at their property, but this is still work in progress!
What about outdoors?
A large backyard and entertaining deck make this house perfect for outdoor living.
Staying warm or keeping cool?
The Shack has split system air-conditioning along with a combustion fireplace in the living area. Please BYO firewood and starters. There also electric heaters in the bedrooms.
What about sheets, towels and other supplies?
Linen is supplied at The Shack. Please however remember to bring your own beach towels!
Parking for cars, boats etc?
The yard is large enough to park a boat or up to 2 cars.
Is my dog or cat also welcome to stay?
The Shack is not pet friendly. Please contact us for a list of our many pet-friendly options!
What are the minimum stay rules?
- Summer Season: Between 2 and 7 nights, depending on the property
- Easter: 4 nights
- Long Weekends: 3 nights
- All other times: 2 nights
Are there any special Summer Season rules?
Please note that during Summer Season, our properties may have designated changeover days so as to make the cleaning rosters manageable. We also do not schedule arrivals on the Christmas, Boxing, and New Years Day public holidays.

The Shack had everything we needed- from the kitchen appliances, washing machine, bathroom with everything you could need. The BEST part was the back deck with the view, the peace and tranquillity and the easy access to the water. Would highly recommend staying at The Shack!

Anthony P - 1st June 2021The Shack is everything you need it to be; stunning beach front location; 10 mins drive to Hyams, Vincentia and Huskisson and wonderfully retro. The property itself is three bedrooms but it is not a sprawling mansion. The Shack is well equipped with everything we needed including reverse cycle AC, Miele washer dryer and dishwasher. The interior is furnished in a mid century modern style with coastal accents, while the outside is still the original 1950s cottage. Loved it!

Lovely, comfortable place...best enjoyed by one couple and kids, otherwise can be a bit cosy. Fabulous view and easy access to the water and terrific park for little ones!

Everything is in working order but if I May say there are many dead insects stuck on the walls that reall y should not be there , a few Cobb webs here and there. A paint job to freshen the shack , there are evident leak marks on ceilings. Hence musty smell inside the house . The toppers of sun beds outside are old and too filthy to lie on .
Beautiful view from the terrace and birds singing next to you. A lot of greenery around the house, so relaxing. Outdoor shower is great. A lot of parking behind the house in the private back yard. The place is smaller than it looks in photos, but ok if you spend your daytime out. Two bedrooms have only short bunk beds, not suitable for tall adults. Kitchen well equipped with a capsule coffee machine. Watch out for musquitos, we couldn't keep them away with any repellents.
BEAT VIEEEEW! We had a beautiful stay over Christmas. My small children loved all the toys, books and dvds that are provided. We even had a few kangaroo visitors in the backyard, which was the most exciting part of our stay. The basin walk is nice and easy my 2 year old walked 90% of it. The water is nice and calm but unfortunately it had a lot of jellyfish but no one else seemed to be bothered by them.

This well deserved extra long weekend getaway with close friends exceeded all of our expectations! Even the unfavourable weather could not dampen our spirits. Thank you so much for allowing us to unwind amongst the bush birds and the beautiful view of the bay. Quaint, cosy and incredibly comfortable. Only suggestion, a clear list of what to bring... we came well and truly over prepared however didn’t think to bring garbage bags. Thank you again and we look forward to visiting Jervis Bay and your properties again soon.

Location was great as we had a boat and slipway was only a 400m away. Plenty of parking, although it is a bit tough backing a boat onto the property. Would we book again, yes definitely.
